Graduate Committee Approval
Students are accepted into the Department with a temporary advisor. However, students may choose as their major professor any faculty member who can and is willing to accommodate them.
Graduate students must establish a Supervisory Committee no later than the second semester of their program. Faculty members who may serve on the student's Supervisory Committee should be considered in consultation with the major professor. A minimum of three members (at least two from the Department) including the major professor must be suggested. When the student and major professor have agreed on the committee members, a Supervisory Committee Approval Form must be prepared. The Department Head must approve the Committee and may add members. It is the student's responsibility to contact the proposed committee members to make certain they are able and willing to serve. The Supervisory Committee Approval Form is then forwarded to the Dean of the School of Graduate Studies for final approval.
