The aviation maintenance program at Utah State University has been selected for a partnership with Delta Airlines. The partnership will provide students with more training to become an aircraft maintenance technician as well as increased job placement within the aviation industry.

Ken White, dean of the College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences, said the partnership is extremely beneficial for students and will provide them with more career opportunities.

“This is a tremendous opportunity for the program and our students,” White said. “This partnership allows us to have access to the most cutting-edge resources for our faculty and students, along with exceptional career opportunities for our graduates.”

Delta is projecting that within the next several years, aviation maintenance technicians will be high demand in the airline industry. Technicians keep the aircraft in optimum flying condition by servicing, repairing and overhauling the aircraft and its different components.

As part of the partnership, USU has gained Delta as a resource for improving its program along with helping recruit prospective students to USU’s Aviation Maintenance program. Partnering with Delta will also allow students to have wider access to maintenance careers available in the aviation industry.

White said the partnership is indicative of the quality of the aviation maintenance program at Utah State.

“This is an acknowledgement of the exceptional program we have built here at USU and recognizes the commitment of the faculty and staff to always provide the best education to our students,” White said.
